The Actuarial Science program at 鶹ƽ has received the prestigious designation as a Center of Actuarial Excellence (CAE) by the Society of Actuaries. The CAE award is the highest level of recognition a college can receive: Fewer than 50 programs worldwide hold this status.

“This elite global recognition merely validates what we have always known: 鶹ƽ offers the top actuarial science training in the region,” said Dr. James MacLaren, LVC President. “Thanks to outstanding faculty mentorship, our students achieve incredible success, passing multiple professional exams, completing paid internships at renowned companies, and securing exceptional job offers before graduation.”

To earn the CAE designation, which is valid for five years, Actuarial Science programs must meet high standards across eight criteria, including curriculum, faculty qualifications, graduate outcomes, industry partnerships, and research contributions. After the review process and site visit, the Society of Actuaries cited communication, professional effectiveness, and adaptability as core strengths of LVC’s Actuarial Science program.

“Earning the Center of Actuarial Excellence designation is a powerful testament to our faculty’s long-standing dedication to student success,” said Dr. Patrick Brewer, Director of Actuarial Science and Associate Professor of Mathematical Sciences. “We take immense pride in watching our students transform into highly capable professionals, backed by a deeply loyal network of alumni who continue to actively recruit and open doors for our graduates.”

Actuarial Science majors at LVC, who are already strong employment candidates, will now have an even more competitive edge in the job market and access to additional benefits such as:

  • Financial support for professional exams, study materials, and travel to conferences
  • Academic opportunities including rigorous exam preparation
  • Professional networking through career fairs and campus events.

The Society of Actuaries established the CAE program to strengthen the academic branch of the actuarial profession, enhance actuarial research, and strengthen connections between universities and industry.
